Missouri Colleges: Quality Control Degrees

Working as a quality assurance engineer means that you have to be aware of both sides of the production equation ? the client's needs and wants, and the requirements of the production process. You will need to understand customer specifications and requirements for your company's products, and be able to drive improvements in product quality within the production process. Many quality assurance engineers are involved with research and development into new products and product development, plus the resolution of quality problems. You may also be involved in customer liaison, in the form of customer audits and the supervision of reporting to customers.

If you want to take on this challenging and interesting role, you will need to have an engineering degree ? it could be mechanical and production engineering; electrical engineering or electronic engineering; or software engineering, depending on the area you wish to be involved in. Your education could also involve specializations in quality assurance, which are featured in some of the programs available. You may decide to study at college, or alternatively, you could take a degree online, allowing you to study and work at the same time.

When you have finished your engineering education, you will need to work in your chosen field for around two years, in production and preferably dealing with customers and suppliers. You will then be ready to find yourself a position as a quality assurance engineer, working with production and inspection workers to make the production process as effective as possible, and also working with customers to make sure that their needs are fulfilled.
