Bristol, Pa., Colleges and Universities

Bristol, Pa. can be an ideal place for students to puruse their college career. A thriving town of 10,000 people, Bristol has numerous festivals and shows throughout the year, great academic and business offerings, and one of the most beloved American cities as its neighbor, Philadelphia.

Your Education Through Bristol, Pa., colleges

Pennco Tech, a technical school, has a campus in Bristol. At this campus, students can choose from seven different certificates and diplomas such as automotive technology and pharmacy teching. The school indicates that it is military friendly program and helps to lift the financial burden off veterans as much as possible. Tuition costs about $20,000 a year.

Just over 10 miles away, in Newtown, is the Bristol campus of Bucks County Community College. At this campus, students can choose from five associate degree programs in subjects including criminal justice and education. Also available there are two certificate programs in phlebotomy and management. Tuition for the 2012-13 year costs just below $3,000 for in-county students, $5,600 for out-of-county students and $8,400 for out-of-state students.

Bristol is near many cities, meaning there are many other colleges just miles away. The average in-state tuition and fees in Pennsylvania for the 2011-2012 year were $3,663 for public two-year colleges, $12,079 for public four-year colleges and $32,559 for private nonprofit four-year colleges, according to The College Board.

The main industries in Bristol are educational services, health care and social assistance, making up 20 percent of jobs. The top three employers in Bucks County are St. Mary Medical Center, the Central Bucks School District and Bucks County itself. The median household income is just below $50,000.
