One choice for furthering your education is through the historical College of Charleston, located in the center of old Charleston. The school awards bachelor's and master's degree as well as certificate programs in arts, business, education, health, the humanities, and more. Just a 10 minute drive from downtown Charleston, the 2,500-student body at the Citadel Military College of South Carolina, study under a military system and comprise the South Carolina Corps of Cadets. The Citadel offers courses in science and mathematics, social sciences, engineering, education and business.

If you are looking for an intimate classroom setting, try Charleston Southern University, which has a student-faculty ratio of 16 to 1. The university awards undergraduate and graduate degrees in the arts, the sciences and business administration. When choosing a college, tuition and fees are important to consider. From 2011-2012, South Carolina's average in-state tuition and fees for two-year colleges were $3,731; for public four-year schools, $10,300; and for private four-year schools, $21,951.
