Cordova, Tenn., Colleges and Universities

Cordova, Tenn., is a northeast suburb of Memphis. With a population of 78,138, Cordova is a small community with an average household income is $80,751. Several farms comprised the area when founded in the 1830s. However, when it comes to pursuing an education, the city is completely up-to-date with multiple colleges and universities located nearby.

Cordova, Tenn., colleges and universities

With more than 40 locations, ITT Technical Institute offers many schools of study to residents of Cordova, including: business, drafting and design, electronics technology, information technology, and management. Located in Cordova, ITT also offers online classes. Tuition per credit hour ranges from $493 to $600 depending on the number of academic semesters completed.

The University of Memphis is Tennessee's largest university and provides more choices to residents. Located about 10 miles outside of Cordova, this public four-year university offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in the sciences and humanities through 12 different schools. The total undergraduate enrollment is 17,510. Tuition is $6,767 for in-state residents and $15,335 for those out-of-state. Southwest Tennessee Community College, or STCC, is also based in Memphis. In addition to certificates and associate degrees in the sciences and humanities, STCC also offers technical certificates. Tuition is $129.00 per credit hour for in-state students and $530 per credit hour for out-of-state students.

Only 14 miles away in Memphis, Victory University is a private four-year school. Victory, once known as Crichton College, has 694 students enrolled. The tuition cost is $10,620 per year. The campus is small, only seven acres, but offers majors in diverse areas such as biblical studies, biology, business, chemistry, education, pre-law, psychology, professional education, and more.

Cordova city information

In the late 1800s, Cordova was just one stop on the railway line leading to Memphis. The original station still stands, but the city has become much more. With a wide selection of schools to choose from nearby, students in Cordova, Tenn., can find the opportunities they are looking for.
