Work on your College Degree at one of the Spring, Texas Colleges

If you're one of the 55,500 citizens living in a town like Spring, Texas, you can avoid the time and gas costs involved in commuting 20 miles to the south to attend Houston colleges and instead look for college options in your own backyard. Fortunately, some educational alliances make higher education convenient to historic Spring, Texas.

A Spring, Texas, colleges with innovation

Let's say you want a college program that leads to a certificate or associate degree, or prepares you to transfer to a four-year college. You'll find multiple options. Lone Star College, a two-year school, has campuses in nearby areas including: Kingwood, East Montgomery County, North Harris, Tomball, the Woodlands, and the northern outskirts of Houston.

Between all these campuses and several others in the Houston area, 100 programs are offered leading to certificates or associate-level degrees. Online classes are also available. Tuition and fees are about $2,000 per semester for Texas residents. When you finish one of the two-year programs from the Spring area, you can continue on to a bachelor's, master's, or PhD program without leaving Lone Star College. Two campuses called LSC University are located in Montgomery (The Woodlands) and in University Park, Houston. At these campuses you can complete an advanced degree from universities such as:

  2. U. of Houston
  3. Texas Southern U.
  4. Lowry Mays Graduate School of Business
  5. Texas A&M

Undergraduate tuition and fees vary by your affiliated university and academic major. At Texas Southern, they range from roughly $4,000 to $5,500 per semester.

Houston's six largest employers come from diverse sectors; the largest employers are: AEI Services, Academy Sports + Outdoors, Grocers Supply Co., U.S. Oncology, Kinder Morgan Inc., and Texas Children's Hospital. Median hourly wage for all occupations in Spring, Texas is $22.26.
