Boulder: A bold choice

Foodies, outdoor adventurers and entrepreneurs will adore the liberal city of Boulder, which has been awarded countless superlatives by publications including Bon Appetit, National Geographic, and Forbes. Here, residents revel in physical fitness and academic achievement -- much of the city's population is made up of the student bodies from Naropa University and the University of Colorado at Boulder, which is home to the Leeds School of Business. There are also several science and research institutions in Boulder, including:

  • The Space Weather Prediction Center

  • The Joint Institute for Laboratory Astrophysics

As one might expect, popular courses of study at these schools include environmental sciences, physics and engineering, as well as arts and humanities-focused majors.

There are also several trade schools in Boulder, including the Boulder College of Massage Therapy, Southwest Acupuncture College, and the Culinary School of the Rockies.

Several major domestic and global companies have headquarters in Boulder, many of which are among the largest employers for residents. These include such household names as:

  • IBM
  • Amgen Inc.
  • Target Corp.
  • Whole Foods Market Inc.

Boulder was also touted by Bloomberg Businessweek as a ""top spot for startups."" So, whether you want to work in a large industry, found your own company -- or something in between -- Boulder might be the right destination for you.

Denver: Where arts and natural science collide

The capital city of Denver is a vibrant community that celebrates nature and culture, media and commerce. This is evident in the presence of thriving galleries, public art installations, parks and global companies.
