Most educational, training, and degree programs in communications technology are certificate or associate degree programs offered by community colleges and private training schools. These programs prepare you to give technological support in fields such as photography, educational media, film, radio and television. Typically there are a variety of courses offered which focus on the mechanical, scientific, and technical aspects of communications, including how to operate, set up, adjust, fix and take care of equipment. Many programs offer courses in digital editing and manipulation; other programs offer you the opportunity to specialize in one or more of the communications technologies. This means that the majority of your courses will teach you about one aspect of communication technology, such as radio broadcasting or knowledge of specific equipment for developing film or other technical processes.
