Warwick, R.I. Colleges and Universities

If you are a history buff, then the city of Warwick, R.I. might be for you. Founded in 1642, the city is a font for history majors. Its proximity to larger metro areas such as Providence and Newport means you can find many choices to fulfill your educational ambitions -- be that in history or otherwise.

One school, the Community College of Rhode Island, or CCRI, is located right in Warwick. Awarding certificate and associate degrees, the college offers programs in biotechnology, business, chemistry, fine arts, health science and legal studies. Many graduating students of CCRI transfer to four-year colleges and universities. Another option to consider for your education is the main campus of Johnson and Wales University in nearby Providence. Close to 10,000 students enrolled at the school pursue undergraduate and graduate degrees. The university has schools in business, culinary arts, hospitality, technology and education.

With an enrollment of more than 13,000 students, the University of Rhode Island is a popular choice for residents of Warwick. Located in Kingston, the college offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree programs through eight colleges: arts and sciences, business administration, continuing education, engineering, environment and life sciences, human science and services, nursing and pharmacy. Tuition and fees differ in Rhode Island, but according to The College Board, average in-state costs from 2011 to 2012 were $3,676 for two-year public colleges; $10,007 for public four-year colleges; and $33,943 for private four-year colleges.
