Texas career colleges and trade schools

The second largest and most populated state in the U.S., Texas offers students a wide variety of educational opportunities. Even better, those who graduate have a good chance of securing a job. According to the state of Texas Office of the Governor, Texas added more jobs than any other state in the country in 2010, and the Texas Workforce Commission reports that more than 75 percent of students who graduate from a trade school find jobs in their field of study.

A wide variety of career colleges and trade schools exist in Texas. Some of the top education courses and resulting careers include the health profession and various science fields, business management, marketing and related services, and computer technologies. Also popular are culinary and criminal justice programs.

1. ATI Career Training Center: With several locations in the state, ATI offers hands-on training in a variety of specialties, including healthcare and wellness fields such as dental assisting, massage therapy, and respiratory therapy. The school also offers degrees in business administration technology, network administration, and automotive and air-conditioning repair.

2. Devry University: This multi-faceted university has locations throughout Texas and offers associate degrees in all of their areas of specialty, which are business and management, engineering and information sciences, health sciences, liberal arts and sciences, and media arts and technology.

3. ITT Technical Institute: Students who attend this educational institution benefit from training in a variety of fast-growing careers, including electronics, web development, computer programming, computer networking, criminal justice, business, and health sciences.

4. Texas Culinary Academy (TCA): Part of a small percentage of American-based cooking schools affiliated with Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts, TCA offers students all of the tools they need to succeed in the busy food service industry.

5. Texas State Technical College (TSTC): Established in 1965 to meet the state's workforce needs, TSTC is a career college that offers training in several areas, including agriculture, information technology and telecommunications, engineering and manufacturing, health and science, business, and transportation and aviation.

6. Kaplan University: offers a wide variety of career training in fields such as criminal justice, business and management, health sciences, nursing, and computer networking.

7. Medvance Institute: Located in several locations throughout Texas, Medvance offers students instruction in a variety of medical specialities, including surgical technology, medical assistant work, and medical billing and coding.

8. Sanford Brown College: This career college focuses on the burgeoning healthcare field, offering training in a wide variety of health specialties, such as dental hygiene, diagnostic medical sonography, medical billing and coding, pharmacy technician work, and surgical technology.

9. Tech Skills: With several locations in key metropolitan areas of Texas, Tech Skills offers students the opportunity to develop proficiency in healthcare, including medical billing and coding, as well as IT systems administration.
