Through accredited online degree programs, you can take courses and get your degree as a pharmacy technician. These may be certificates, associate or bachelor's degree programs, depending on what university or college you attend.

Career training as a pharmacy assistant

Through pharmacy assistant training, you will learn how to handle these key responsibilities:

  • receive prescription requests
  • count tablets
  • label bottles
  • state the rules and regulations for these prescriptions

You will also learn the proper procedures for preparing prescriptions, stocking and monitoring drug supplies on shelves, and how to deal with customers' questions and privacy.

After your training, you may be qualified to work in hospitals, nursing homes, assisted-living facilities and pharmacies. You may work closely with the pharmacist and record information for him or her. You will work in a clean, organized well-lit area.
