Online High Schools Degrees

Your high school diploma or GED is within reach

According to a study by the Bureau of Labor Statistics published in 2002, high school graduates earn $1.2 million during their lifetimes, while high school dropouts earn about one million dollars. We bet a quarter-million dollars is motivation enough to earn your high school diploma! A variety of options are available to students, including attending an online high school or taking the GED, formally known as the General Education Diploma.

Change your life earnings by obtaining your high school diploma or GED

Many public and private schools and colleges now offer the high school diploma equivalency program online. Other programs and courses are targeted at teenage or adult high-school drop-outs, who want to earn their GEDs or high school diplomas. Most programs can be completed at the students' own pace.

While students who did not graduate from high school have the option of completing the GED, it is generally considered to be not as helpful in the long run as a high school diploma, according to an October 2008 Wall Street Journal article by Gary Fields.

The GED exam focuses on five areas:

  1. Language arts: writing
  2. Language arts: reading
  3. Mathematics
  4. Social studies
  5. Science

The GED must be taken at one of the more than 3,200 GED testing centers in the U.S. and Canada. It is available in three languages. The cost for the exam depends on the state. Online prep courses are widely offered by diploma schools, online career colleges and online high schools.

Start working toward higher lifetime earnings today by earning either your high school diploma or GED. You might be tempted to continue your education on to college, which will translate into even higher earnings throughout your career.
