Lubbock, Texas is home to more than 229,000 residents, but still keeps a small community charm. The city boasts wineries, archaeological sites as well as cowboy and musical history. You can choose from an array of colleges and universities in Lubbock to suit your educational needs.

One great choice is Texas Tech University, which boasts a student population of more than 25,000 and is one of the largest universities in Texas. The university offers bachelor's, master's, doctoral and law degrees. Texas Tech is known for its research facilities. In-state tuition and fees are $8,260 while out-of-state tuition and fees are $17,560. Texas Tech is the home of the Wind Science and Engineering Research Center.

Another option for higher education, Lubbock Christian University is a private institution affiliated with Churches of Christ. The university grants bachelor's and master's-level degrees in such majors as business, management, marketing education and health. Tuition and fees come to more than $16,000 per year.

South Plains College offers three divisions of study: arts and sciences, health occupations and technical education. An alternative to a four-year school, the college awards associate degrees and certificates. Nearly 10,000 students enroll in courses each semester while another 9,500 enroll in the continuing education and workforce development programs.
