If you're looking for a thriving little town, you can't beat Independence, Ohio. A town of 7,000 people, Independence offers its own academic and business offerings, but if for some reason those aren't enough, then consider the opportunities in Cleveland, a 10-mile drive away.

Independence Colleges

The University of Phoenix has its Cleveland campus located in Independence. There, students can choose from 19 bachelor's degree programs, including a bachelor's degree in nursing, and 10 master's degree programs, such as an MBA. Students can also consider Cleveland State University, actually located nearby in Cleveland, which has approximately 16,000 students who attend. Cleveland State University offers 200 major fields of study at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and in nearly every subject imaginable. The school also offers summer programs, study abroad opportunities, weekend and evening classes, and even continuing education. Tuition comes to about $4,100 a year for undergraduate students, $6,000 for graduate students and $8,500 for law students, per 2011-12.
