Middletown, Ohio Colleges and Universities

Middletown is a city of around 50,000 residents that is nestled among the old oak forests of southwestern Ohio. From the historic downtown district to the city's complement of more than 30 parks, Middletown has something to offer students from all walks of life.

Middletown Colleges

Middletown is home to a regional campus of Ohio's Miami University, where students can begin core coursework for the dozens of majors offered at the school's flagship campus in Oxford. Miami University also offers four bachelor's degrees and seven associate degrees that can be completed entirely at the Middletown campus. Total enrollment at Miami University - Middletown was 2,272 for the 2011-12 academic year, and tuition costs for in-state students are considerably lower than the statewide average of $8,904 for public four-year schools.

Training for Middletown careers can be found at the D. Russel Lee Career Center administered by Butler Tech. With programs in five skill categories, Butler Tech prepares students for such in-demand jobs as practical nurse, fire rescue worker and HVAC technician. While tuition costs run higher than Ohio's two-year public institution average of $3,608 per year, financial aid is available for students who qualify.

Middletown Economy

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that employment in Middletown's counties of Butler and Warren has improved in recent years, with job totals increasing an average of 1.45 percent between September 2010 and September 2011. Average weekly wages also increased in the same period, by 3.2 and 4.6 percent, respectively. Office and administrative support occupations are the largest employment category in the Middletown metro area, making up 17.6 percent of all jobs. Workers in the region earned a mean annual salary of $43,600 in 2011.
