Medina, Ohio Colleges and Universities

Although the city of Medina, in Northwest Ohio, is located between Cleveland and Akron, the city retains its Victorian era old-world charm. Its proximity to two larger cities gives residents access to 29 colleges and universities within a 60-mile radius. It may be no surprise then that one-third of the adults of Medina hold a bachelor's degree or higher.

If you are looking to attend a four-year institution, one option located 30 miles north of Medina is Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio. The 3,700-some students there choose from more than 50 bachelor's degree programs such as arts, science, education and music. The school also offers master's degrees in business and education. Another option, Cuyahoga Community College, is Ohio's first and oldest community college with its main campus located in Cleveland. The college offers programs and certificates through classes such as accounting, anthropology, business management, health, informational technology and women's studies.

The University of Akron has more than 200 undergraduate majors, graduate programs, a school of law, distance learning, international and adult learning programs. The 218-acre campus boasts the fastest-growing engineering program in Ohio. When looking at colleges, be sure to consider tuition and fees when making a choice. In 2011-12, the average in-state tuition and fees for two-year public schools in Ohio were $3,608; for four-year pubic schools, $8,904; and for four-year private schools, $28,376.

In 2009, Medina, Ohio was named one of the best places to live in America and in 2011 as having more affordable homes by "CNN Money" magazine. The city, with a 2009 population of more than 26,000 people, boasts commercial expansion of business, manufacturing and research facilities. Two well-known manufacturers, 3-M and Owens Corning, are located there.
